The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered a stay on all new appointments, promotions and land allotments made by the Mayawati regime in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Saharanpur districts from August 1 to 29.

Special Secretary (Avas-Vikas) Diwakar Tripathi told reporters that the district development authorities had been directed to report to the state government on implementation of the order by September 12.

Meanwhile, newly appointed chairman of Noida T George Joseph told reporters that 16 clerical appointments in the authority on August 26 and industrial plots allotted in Sector 63 on August 22 would be checked again as they had been made without adopting proper norms.

Plots had also been irregularly allotted in Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur to relatives of the former chief minister, he added.
