About 1,000 students and teachers of the Aligarh Muslim University took out a rally on Thursday protesting against the scheduled visit of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, which is beginning on Sunday.
The protestors submitted a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding New Delhi snap all relations with Jerusalem due to its 'atrocities on Palestinian people'.
The march started at the Faculty of Arts and ended up at the University Circle in the AMU campus in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The memorandum was handed over to the district magistrate.
The demonstrators carried placards and posters denouncing Sharon as the 'biggest terrorist of the world'. The protest lasted for around three hours.
The memorandum urged the Indian government to support the Palestinian cause at all forums.
