Combined Medical Services Examination 2004
The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Medical Services Examination 2004 on January 18, 2004. The examination will be held at various centers across the country.
For details regarding eligibility, syllabus and scheme of the examination, centres of examination, guidelines for filling up the application form etc aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated August 23, 2003.
Conditions of Eligibility:
Age Limit: Must not have attained the age of 32 years as on January 1, 2004.
The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes/Physical Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the notice.
Educational Qualification: A candidate must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination.
Application Form: Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Office/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20 only. Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.
In case of any difficulty in obtaining the application forms from the designated HPOs/POs the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC 'From Supply Monitoring Cell' over telephone 011-23389366. Fax: 011-23387310.
Fee: Rs 100 through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of fees. OBC candidates are required to pay full fees.
Address and Last date for receipt of applications: All applications must reach the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before September 22, 2003.
However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by courier) is September 29, 2003.
Facilitation counter and web site for Guidance of Candidates: In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding applications, candidature etc candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near 'C' Gate of its campus in person or over telephone 011-23385271. Fax: 011-23381125 on working days between 1000 hours to 1700 hours.
The Commission also has a web site www.upsc.gov.in over which candidates can obtain details of the examination as well as information about registration of their applications, venue of the examination and results etc.
Seventh National Youth Parliament Competition for Universities, 2003-2004
With a view to strengthen the system of parliamentary democracy, create democratic awareness and imbibe democratic ethos among the youth by acquainting them about the functioning of representative institutions. the Union ministry of parliamentary affairs will hold the Inter-University Youth Parliament Competition during 2003-2004.
Eligibility: All recognized universities/deemed universities either directly or through any one of the affiliated colleges are eligible to participate in the competition. However, final selection of the university will be made by the ministry. Direct request from any college for participation in the competition will not be entertained.
Manner of holding the competition: Universities/Institutions selected will be divided into groups. The competition will be held in two levels. i. Group level and ii. National level. At the Group level, the competition will be conducted among the institutions in each group. Thereafter, the National level will be conducted wherein winners of various groups will compete.
Orientation Course: The ministry will organize an orientation course during October-November 2003. Exact schedule of the orientation course will be intimated to the concerned University/College.
TA, DA and Stay of Participants: The ministry will make arrangements for free boarding/lodging of the participants for attending the orientation course. The ministry will provide actual train/bus fare or maximum up to II AC train fare whichever is least as TA to the participants. The amount of TA will be reimbursed only on production of original tickets and a certificate to the effect that the participant has not claimed any TA/DA from his/her parent institution for those days/purpose.
Financial Assistance: The ministry will reimburse expenses incurred by each institution up to Rs 5,000 for participating in each level of the competition on production of original vouchers/bills.
Date of receipt of application for participating in the Youth Parliament competition: September 10, 2003.
Orientation course: To be held during October-November 2003.
Group level competition: To be completed during January-February 2004.
National level competition: To be completed during March-April 2004.
Prize distribution: To be held during May-June 2004.
Evaluation of the competition: The performance of Youth Parliament competitions will be evaluated by a team consisting of an MP/Ex-MP/MLA/Ex-MLA/MLC/Ex-MLC and an academician of repute at the group level and an officer of the ministry, an MP/Ex-MP/MLA/Ex-MLA/MLC/Ex-MLC and an academician of repute at the national level.

Only those Universities/Institutions should apply who are able to hold the Youth Parliament competition as per the above mentioned time schedule.
