Pakistan is likely to announce sometime on Monday afternoon its response to India's recent proposals to improve relations between the two countries.
Pakistani officials in Islamabad said Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar might announce the proposals in the absence of Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who is out of the country, local daily Dawn reported on Monday.
Pakistan's counter proposals, which were reportedly drawn up after hectic consultations were submitted for the approval of President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, the newspaper said.
Among other things, Pakistan could also announce a number of scholarships and free medical treatment to poor Indian patients. A hospital in Karachi recently said it was willing to provide free treatment to 20 cardiac patients from India.
