Kaskar pleaded the police had not made out any case against him and urged for bail on the ground that MCOCA was not applicable to him.Apart from Kaskar, the court has remanded two others to judicial custody till October 28.
Kaskar was arrested under MCOCA after he was deported from Dubai. He is facing charges of channelising funds of the underworld into the real estate sector in Mumbai.
Kaskar and his associates had developed Sara Business Centre and Sahara Shopping Complex near the police commisionerate in south Mumbai allegedly with the underworld money. These shopping complexes were illegal and have been attached by the court in an interim measure.
According to the police, Dawood had pumped a lot of money into the real estate business by purchasing old buildings and converting them into multiplexes.
