BrahMos missile was on Sunday test-fired from a warship, INS Rajput, stationed in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Orrisa.
The test was the sixth in the series, defence sources said.
India and Russia have jointly developed the cruise missile, which has a range of 290km.
The missile is eight metres long, weighs about three tonnes, and carries a conventional warhead weighing about 200kg.
