November 17, 2003 19:06 IST

Terrorists of the United People Democratic Solidarity (Anti-talk) faction have killed seven Kukis and torched 70 houses in a remote area of Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

They attacked Ganjam village, forcing the residents to flee on November 14, Superintendent of Police Abdul Quddus said on Monday.

Following reports of trouble, the police went there and found about 200 villagers walking down with seven dead bodies, he said.

The villagers were expected to reach Manja police outpost by Monday evening and would be housed in makeshift camps in the area, he added.
