Two killed, 14 hurt in Jharkhand bandh violence
May 27, 2003 17:23 IST
Two persons were killed and 14 injured in Ranchi on Tuesday when police fired at an unruly mob on the second day of the Jharkhand bandh on the domicile issue.
Earlier, a petrol bomb was hurled at one of the centres where a recruitment test for teachers was underway. Pro-domicile groups are protesting against conducting the examination for teachers before framing a local policy. No one was injured in the attack.
Inspector General of Police (operation) R C Kaithal said stray incidents had occurred elsewhere.
"Once the examinations are over, everything would be normal," he said.
