Hurriyat flays Pak for banning Hizbul Mujahideen

May 21, 2003 00:10 IST

All-Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Tuesday flayed Pakistan for restricting the movement of the pro-Paksitan militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen on its soil.

The firebrand Jamait-e-Islami leader claimed the decision to impose restrictions on the outfit was due to pressure from the United States.

He said such a ban could have been the fallout from Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Muhammad Kasuri's recent visit to the US. He added, sarcastically, that Pakistan might also rename itself under such pressure.
