India to hold joint naval exercises with Russia

The Indian Navy will hold joint naval exercises with Russian Navy on May 22 and 23, Vice Admiral Arun Prakash, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference on board INS Mumbai after taking over his new posting, Prakash said two Slava class cruisers, including Moskava, will participate in the exercise from the Russian side.

Two Udalov class vessels Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Panteleyev and a tanker Vladmir Kolechitsky will also join the exercise later.

From India, INS Mumbai, will take part in the joint exercises, he said. "We hope to learn a lot from the exercise and to share information on technology," he said.
