US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday night to try and normalise relations between India and Pakistan.
Accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca, Armitage arrived from London, where he held talks with National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra.
Armitage, who was credited with extracting a commitment from President Pervez Musharraf last year to end infiltration across the Line of Control, will meet Pakistani leaders on Thursday in another bid to make Pakistan walk the talk.
Armitage will go to Kabul on Thursday after his talks in Islamabad and then fly to New Delhi on May 9.
