India's response to Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali's confidence building measures, announced at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, will most likely come in Parliament on Thursday.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is scheduled to participate in a debate in Parliament on Thursday on the ongoing attempts to restart a formal dialogue with Pakistan.
"It is a very serious matter and Parliament is in session, which would be debating the issue tomorrow," External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters.
Minister of State for External Affairs Digvijay Singh, said: "The issue is coming up for discussion on Thursday and the prime minister himself would respond to the debate. And therefore it would not be wise for me to make any observation at this juncture."
When asked if the prospect of a SAARC summit had brightened with these developments, Digvijay Singh said: "Let's start this (talks) first."
India has already offered to restore full diplomatic ties as also air, road and train links on reciprocal basis with Pakistan.
