The Pakistani opposition on Monday night endorsed Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali's bid to resume dialogue with India, but warned that any compromise on Kashmir would be unacceptable.
"The opportunity should be seized to build a solid foundation for enduring peace," a statement released after a three-hour all-party meeting said.
The meeting was convened by Jamali.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Jamali said: "All the leaders gave me a mandate to hold [a] meaningful dialogue with India."
He said there was a consensus about adopting a process of negotiations and the political leaders expressed the hope that the outcome of the talks would be positive.
"India has shown flexibility on the issue of talks and Pakistan too would demonstrate the same," he said, but made it clear that no one can part with the principle issue of Kashmir.
