Like-minded parties form third front in MP
March 25, 2003 18:35 IST
Seven national and regional 'like-minded' political parties have formed the 'Madhya Pradesh Jan Mukti Morcha' as a third front to fight both the ruling Congress and opposition BJP in the forthcoming assembly elections.
"We would not have been able to provide an alternative to the Congress and BJP if we fought the polls separately," members of the Morcha, including M W U Siddiqui (Janata Dal-Secular), Sukhlal Kushwah (Rashtriya Samanta Dal), Jaipal Singh (Nationalist Congress Party) and Dr Sunilal (MP Kisan Mazdoor Adivasi Kranti Dal) said while announcing the formation of the front at a press conference in Bhopal on Monday evening.
The other constituents of the third front are CPI, Samajwadi Janata Party and the Justice Party, the leaders said and claimed some other parties were also likely to join the front.
The alliance's main agenda for the elections would be development of infrastructure such as roads, water and power.
It would fight all 230 seats but its constituents ‘have not taken any decision on seat sharing'.
