Jamali rules out recognition of LoC as solution to Kashmir issue
June 05, 2003 04:28 IST
Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali on Wednesday ruled out acceptance of the Line of Control as a border to resolve the Kashmir issue.
He said the success of the dialogue process between India and Pakistan depends on 'sincere reciprocity' from India.
Addressing the participants of a war course at the National Defence College, he said any solution to the Kashmir issue should involve all parties.
He said a peaceful and stable South Asia will enable both the countries to face the biggest challenge of combating poverty, hunger and disease.
Without directly referring to the tensions between his government and the North West Frontier Province government headed by Islamist alliance Muttahida Majlis Amal, he said his government remains committed to a modern, progressive and forward-looking Pakistan.
Tensions prevailed between the Jamali government and the NWFP government after the provincial assembly adopted a Taliban style Sharia law.
