Maharashtra Chief Secretary Ajit Nimbalkar on Tuesday presented a report on high-rise buildings prepared by a study group to Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

The group was constituted in January this year after public criticism against high-rises in Mumbai.

The report highlights the factors responsible for the growth of high-rises and recommends measures to regulate them.

One of the major recommendations of the group is to restrict, in normal course, the height of buildings height to 70 metres. Buildings that are proposed to built above the stipulated height will have to be approved by an panel of experts.

The group also recommended the constitution of a Infrastructure Development Fund, whose amount will be spent on construction and upgradation of infrastructure.
