The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Friday decided to go ahead with the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and refused to drop the issues of Kashi and Mathura from its agenda.

At the conclusion of a meeting of the leaders of the Ram Mandir Nirman Andolan Samiti, the outfit decided to begin construction on the disputed site from an 'auspicious date'.

Sources told UNI the committee decided that it will not wait for a court order or a legislation for starting the construction.

RSS chief K Sudarshan, who was also attending the meet, urged the VHP leaders not to press for the resignation of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The VHP leaders are likely to make public the decisions taken at the meeting on Saturday at a press conference.

VHP leader Ram Vilas Vedanti, a former Uttar Pradesh MP, said the congregation had two sessions of deliberations on how and when to start the construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

The outfit also decided to start an agitation to mobilise public opinion.

"The details are being worked out," VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia said.
