Russia bans 3 Pakistan-based terror groups

February 05, 2003 10:11 IST

Russia has outlawed three Pakistan-based terrorist outfits, including the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, and launched proceedings to impound their assets.

Besides the Lashkar, the Jamaat-e-Islam and the Hizbul Tahri al Islami have been included in the Federal Security Service blacklist of 15 international terrorist outfits submitted to the prosecutor-general's office for imposing judicial ban and confiscation of their assets in Russia, state-run Russia TV network said on Tuesday.

The Al-Qaeda, Taliban and various other outfits based in Saudi Arabia, Chechnya, Egypt and Kuwait are in the blacklist.
