The Centre's aim is to disband the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah), the interlocutor for the Naga peace talks, K Padmanabhaiah, has said.

"At the time of signing any agreement, we will not only take up the issue of surrendering of arms but also disbanding the faction itself. That is our ultimate objective, but right now it is a little far," he said in an interview to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh mouthpiece Panchjanya.

He said the government has made it clear to the Naga leaders that if they want to have a serious political dialogue, they would have to come to India as "we will not be able to continue such talks outside the country".

"The Naga rebel leaders have also recognised the importance of the issue. Therefore, their coming to India for talks after 35 years is a crucial step," he said.

Conceding that the Nagas in Manipur are "not a happy lot", he said, "Otherwise, why do they want to get separated. Manipur should also think about the issue seriously. It will have to think about the well-being of the Nagas in the state."

The Centre has kept in mind Manipur's stand on protecting its territorial integrity and will not take any decision without consulting the state governments concerned, the former Union home secretary said.

As of now, the Centre has no plans to change the boundary of any state though discussions are on with regard to the demands raised by the Naga leaders, he added.
