55 army men injured in IED blast

At least 55 army personnel were injured on Tuesday when militants triggered an improvised explosive device on the outskirts of Srinagar, official sources said.

Militants exploded the device at around 11.00am when an army convoy, which was on its way to Baramulla, was passing Lawapora in Narbal area, 12km from Srinagar.

The injured army personnel were traveling in a private bus. An escort vehicle was also damaged.

Sources said a woman was among three civilian also injured in the incident.

The Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Tuesday's blast follows the grenade explosion in the winter capital Jammu, which injured ten persons late on Monday.
