J&K residents protest against IED blast

Around 600 residents of Singhpora village in Udhampur district on Sunday protested against the killing of a girl in an IED explosion triggered by militants, a senior army officer in Udhampur said on Sunday.

Shezadi (13) was killed and seven persons were injured in the blast on Friday, which was intended to target an army convoy, Brigadier General Staff (Media) G D Bakshi told PTI.

Angry residents took out a demonstration on Sunday. Jamait-I-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who went to sympathise with the bereaved family, left the place after noting the mood of the people, Bakshi said.
