The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday registered a case in connection with the murder of National Highway Authority of India official Satyendra Dubey, who had pointed out corruption in the construction of the Golden Quadrilateral Project in Bihar.

The case was registered under 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and various provisions of the Arms Act, agency sources said.

A CBI team will leave for the spot of crime in Gaya either on Sunday night or Monday morning, the sources said.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the Bihar government together had decided to hand over the case to CBI.

The PM had said, "Like all right-thinking Indians, I am shocked and saddened by the murder of Satyendra Dubey, an upright and dedicated officer working with NHAI."

"Those responsible for his death, wherever they may be, will not be spared," he said.

Dubey, an IIT engineer, had written to the PM about the siphoning of money from his 'dream project' at Barachatti segment in Bihar.

He was killed on November 27 when he was on his way to his residence from the district railway station.
