December 10, 2003 15:44 IST
Decks have been cleared for Sheila Dikshit's second tenure as Delhi chief minister with Congress president Sonia Gandhi endorsing her as the leader of the legislature party.
A formal announcement in this regard will be made on Wednesday evening, party sources said.
Prior to taking the decision Gandhi, who had been authorised by the newly elected legislators to choose their leader, invited Dikshit and her detractor Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Chaudhary Prem Singh for a meeting.
Ahmed Patel, All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Delhi and political secretary to Gandhi, was also present during the 20-minute meeting in which the Congress chief was understood to have told the two leaders to bury their differences in view of coming Lok Sabha election.
