Congress condemns use of Sonia's name in bribery allegations

December 07, 2003 00:55 IST

Congress general secretary Ambika Soni on Saturday night condemned the use of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's name by BJP leaders in connection with the alleged effort to bribe some BJP MLAs.

Reacting to Law Minister Arun Jaitley's allegation in Raipur against caretaker Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, she said nobody has the right to use Gandhi's name and criticised Jaitley for addressing a press conference displaying money, tape and other things.

If Jogi has committed any wrong, she said, the law should take its course but asked why double standards were being adopted in the case of former Union minister Dilip Singh Judeo who was seen accepting money from a man who wanted mining rights in Chhattisgarh.
