Judeo bribery allegations: CBI questions Delhi resident
December 02, 2003 19:47 IST
Rohit Chaturvedi on Tuesday became the first person to be questioned by the CBI in connection with the bribery allegations against former Union minister Dilip Singh Judeo.
The agency had come to know that he had made some telephone calls to the hotel room, where Judeo was filmed accepting money from a man who was interested in mining rights in Chhattisgarh.
The CBI questioned Chaturvedi, a resident of Jangpura in south Delhi, about the reasons for him making calls to the hotel room from his mobile telephone number, agency sources said.
Next on the list is Judeo's personal secretary Natwar Rateria, who was served with a notice last week to appear before the CBI. Judeo has also been served with a notice to appear before the CBI for questioning.
The sources said Rateria's questioning would help the CBI ascertain whether to convert the Preliminary Enquiry into a Regular Case under the Prevention of Corruption Act or to continue with the probe until it is able to gather incriminating evidence against Judeo.
