August 25, 2003 18:52 IST
A high alert has been sounded in Nashik on Monday following the twin blasts in Mumbai.
The security has been strengthened in the holy town where Kumbh Mela is in progress.
City Police Commissioner P T Lohar said security has been stepped up around sadhugram by activating bomb-detection and disposal squads, sniffer-dog squad and anti-terrorist squad.
"The government has sanctioned us three companies of State Reserve Police Force, 800 additional staff and 70 police officers for the second royal bath scheduled on August 27," he said.
Similar arrangements have been done at the holy town of Trimbakeshwar, about 29 kms from here, he added.
