Largest death toll at J J Hospital

Maharashtra Minister of State for Medical Education Suresh Shetty and Mumbai Mayor Mahadev Deole say the situation in Mumbai has been brought under control. They were speaking at the J J Hospital after they visited those injured in the twin blasts on Monday.

The victims of the blasts were taken to three Mumbai hospitals -- St George Hospital, G T Hospital and J J Hospital.

St George Hospital has reported 14 dead and 37 injured.

G T Hospital has reported three dead and 47 injured.

J J Hospital has reported 28 dead and 37 injured.

Three surgeries are going on at J J Hospital at the moment. Three surgeries are going on at the G T Hospital.

One hundred doctors and 50 nurses are attending to the victims at the three hospitals.

Information counters will be set up at all three hospitals within the hour. Information on the dead and the injured at these three hospitals will soon be available.

Post-mortems on those who died in the blasts will begin within the hour.

Both Shetty and Deole said the hospitals have enough blood and medicine. They said there is no need to rush to donate blood, but added that those who want do so are welcome.
