All set for Kumbh Mela Parvani

Arrangements have been made for the large number of mahants and devotees scheduled to take the Royal Bath (Shahi Snan) at Trimbakeshwar on the first special day (Parvani) of the Kumbh Mela on Tuesday.

The mahants and sadhus of Shaiva sects will take the snan in Kushavarta Teerth, housing one of the 12 jyotirlingas.

On the occasion of the full moon, five Royal Processions (Shahi Miravanuks) will also be taken out. The mahants are busy decorating their deities, horses, elephants and palanquins that will be taken out in elaborate processions throughout the city, drawing thousands of onlookers.

As many as 2,100 police personnel will be deployed to control the sea of devotees expected to throng the city.

Besides, 20 ambulances, 100 doctors and nurses will also be stationed in case medical interventions are needed.

The State Road Transport Corporation will have frequent bus services.

Meanwhile, the mahants of the Juna Akhara and Niranjani Akhara have reached an understanding over the Royal Bath.

According to official sources, the mahants of Juna, Avahan and Agni Akharas will take dips on August 12 and September 7 while those of Niranjani and Anand will do so on August 27.
