Court allows police to attach property
of R K Sharma

A Delhi court on Monday ordered the attachment of property of Indian Police Service officer R K Sharma -- the prime accused in the murder of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dilbag Singh, after considering the material on record, allowed the police to initiate steps under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which entails attachment of assets of an absconding accused.

It also allowed launching of steps under Section 82 of CrPC, which involves a proclamation requiring appearance of an absconding accused person against whom a warrant has been issued.

The proclamation will be pasted at Sharma's residence in Panchkula on Tuesday, police sources said.

The Delhi police also approached the Ministry of External Affairs for revocation of the passport of Sharma, the sources said.
