Centre under 'pressure' from Farooq to sabotage peace process: Shabir Shah

Terming his visit to Delhi a success, Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Shah on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government of succumbing to the 'pressure' of the Farooq Abdullah regime in Jammu and Kashmir to sabotage the peace process initiated by the Kashmir Committee.

Reacting to the denial of a meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, he said, "This is a setback to them, for the people of this country have understood that the government is not serious to resolve the Kashmir issue."

"Today or tomorrow, the government will have to come forward and hold talks," Shah said.

Terming his meeting with the Kashmir Committee as 'fruitful', Shah said the next round of talks would either be held in October.
