Several cops injured as 3 parcel
bombs explode in Karachi

At least nine persons, including some cops, were injured on Wednesday when three parcel bombs exploded within the space of an hour in the southern port city of Karachi.

The first occurred at a police station, the second in an office of the Sindh government and the third in the office of a top police official, sources said.

The injured have been admitted to the Jinnah hospital.

Police said they had defused another five parcel bombs at various places in the city and suspect they could be part of a coordinated terrorist attack.

The parcels were sent through private courier services, they said.

A police official said all eight parcels carried a message, which said that the packages were from a prominent political party.
