Abdullahs to create history in Parliament

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah would be creating history of sorts during the winter session of Parliament, which begins on Monday.

While Omar Abdullah is a member of the Lok Sabha, his father was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha.

"There have been instances of more than one member of a family being elected to Parliament. But this would be the first time that a person would be a member of the upper house while his son would sit in the lower house at the same time," former secretary general of Lok Sabha Dr Subash Kashyap told rediff.com in New Delhi.

When contacted, the Abdullahs expressed ignorance about this achievement and were very pleased to hear about it.
