Five held in connection with lynching of Dalits

The Haryana police has arrested five people in connection with the recent mob violence that led to the lynching of five Dalits in Jhajjar district.

The five arrested are residents of Sura village, the police said.

In protest against the arrest, the residents of Sura and neighbouring villages blocked the roads.

Further investigations are in progress. Senior police officers of Jhajjar, including the deputy commissioner of police and the superintendent of police, have reached the spot, sources said.

The state government, however, is awaiting the report of Commissioner of Rohtak Division R R Banswal, who probed the incident.
