Samata ministers quit Jharkhand ministry

All the five Samata Party ministers on Saturday night resigned from the Babulal Marandi government in Jharkhand following a direction from the central leadership of the party, private secretary of one of the ministers said.

The private secretary to Minister for Revenue and Land Reforms Madhu Singh told PTI that the ministers resigned from the BJP-led coalition ministry following differences over the nomination for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in the state.

The election is slated for May 30.

The ministers submitted their resignations to the chief minister's office at 2230 hours IST.

The ministers who quit are - Excise Minister and state Samata Party chief Ramesh Singh Munda, state Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Minister Ram Chandra Kesri, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Madhu Singh, Urban Development Minister Bachcha Singh and Public Health Engineering Department Minister Jaleswar Mahato.
