They said more than one hundred families have left 11 villages along the international border in Kathua and Jammu districts, for safer places since early Friday morning.
Some of these families have taken refuge in the premises of four government schools in Jammu, while others have sought shelter with their relatives, the sources said.
The mounting tension along the border also led to the exodus of around 200 families from Karol, Matrian, Pansar, Chechwal, Chandgra Chek, Bobiya, Londi, Lodwara, Mlanguchek, Faquirachek, Pindi, Bainglarad, Suchetgarh, Kolian, Kangwala and Fathuchek areas, they said.
As many as 15,789 families comprising of 79,379 persons have already migrated during earlier exchanges of fire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
Of these, more than 2000 persons had migrated from 25 villages in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district, they added.
