Centre to send 2,000 CRPF
personnel to Gujarat

Acceding to a Gujarat government request, the Centre has decided to send about 2,000 Central Reserve Police Force personnel, including 200 commandos, to assist the state administration in combating communal violence.

Sources told PTI on Wednesday night that eight companies of CRPF were being transported to Gujarat from various parts of the country.

Narendra Modi's government had recently sought additional forces to deal with the continuing communal violence in Ahmedabad and some other parts of the state.
