"It is likely that the French will help us," Syed Kamal Shah, police chief of Sindh province, was quoted as saying by the official APP news agency.
After the inspection of the blast site in the portico of the five star hotel in Karachi, he said the involvement of international terrorist groups, including the Al Qaeda, in the suicide attack could not be ruled out.
"It would be premature to offer any comments at this juncture," he said.
According to officials, the police are working on three theories.
They suspect either a foreign hand, meaning the involvement of pro-Indian elements, international terrorist organisations, specially the Al Qaeda, and some of the local militant groups, which were banned by President Pervez Musharraf in January this year.
