VHP, Muslim leaders to spread
message of peace

In a rare gesture, senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Muslim leaders came together under one roof to discuss the situation in Gujarat and agreed to join hands for restoring peace in Ahmedabad.

State VHP president K K Shastri, RSS representatives and several Muslim leaders agreed to spread the message of peace throughout Ahmedabad.

In a joint appeal at the end of the meeting on Monday, they expressed shock at and condemned the recent acts of violence. They also urged the people to exercise restraint and restore peace.

For their peace efforts, they sought co-operation from political parties, non-governmental organisation, police and civil administration.

Among others, the signatories to the appeal included Shastri and coordinator of the Jamiat-Ulema-i-Hind Afzal Khan.
