Pakistan expels two Indian diplomats

Pakistan on Tuesday declared two Indian diplomats persona non-grata and asked them to leave the country within a week.

The two staffers -- Makhan Singh and Pramod Kumar -- were expelled "on account of their involvement in activities incompatible with their official status", APP new agency quoted a foreign ministry official as saying.

India, however, rejected the allegation.

"We have rejected allegations made by Pakistani authorities as totally baseless," external affairs ministry spokesperson Nirupama Rao said.

"Arrangements for their repatriation are being made," she said.

Recently, India had expelled two officials of the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi.

There was concern among the Indian high commission officials that both the expelled staffers might be assaulted before their departure.
