No women kidnapped in Godhra: Police

The Gujarat police have denied that miscreants who attacked the Sabarmati Express and set a bogie on fire killing 57 passengers on February 27 kidnapped any women.

Additional director general (law and order) of Gujarat police, J Mahapatra, talking to rediff.com said that no complaint has been received by the police so far.

"Let me put it on record that no woman passenger has been reported missing after the incident. We have accounted for each and every passenger. These are all rumours that have been doing rounds with the intention of spreading violence," Mahapatra said.

Mahapatra did not rule out the involvement of the Pakistani Inter-Service Intelligence in the incident.

"ISI and its agents are active in all parts of the country, including Gujarat. Being a border state, Gujarat is also a conduit for gunning running and other activities," he said.

He described the whole incident as a 'pre-planned conspiracy'.

"The investigations show that the miscreants had kept the petrol-soaked rags ready for use much before the train had arrived at the Godhra railway station," he said.
