All-party meeting on domicile
row on August 1

Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has called an all-party meeting to discuss the controversial domicile policy of the government on August 1.

The state has witnessed a series of crippling bandhs and several people have died in clashes between pro and anti-domicile groups ever since the government announced its policy to give preference to domiciled Jharkhandis in government jobs.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha have already declared that they would boycott the August 1 meeting.

"There is no need for such a meeting...the chief minister has repeatedly refused to review the policy," Girinath Singh, an RJD MLA said.
