The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday raided the residential premises of about 11 engineers and contractors in connection with financial irregularities in the Rengali dam project in Orissa's Angul district, CBI sources said on Saturday.
The raids were conducted in various localities in Bhubaneswar.
Prominent among the contractors raided is P K Mohanty, brother of the former state minister Nalini Mohanty.
CBI officials have declined to disclose details of the raids. A huge amount of money and documents have been seized during the raids, a source said.
The raids are in keeping with Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's order to the CBI to probe irregularities in various irrigation projects in the state.
Last year, he had even dropped three ministers facing allegations of corruption.
