Jaya charges DMK with conspiracy
to defeat her

N Sathiya Moorthy in Chennai

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa has said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is trying to prevent free and fair polling in the assembly by-election in Andipatti, from where she is contesting.

"The DMK does not want me to win the election and become the chief minister (of Tamil Nadu) once again," she said in Chennai on Monday.

"Even if I win the election, DMK president M Karunanidhi will not want me to become the chief minister," she added.

"They expected something to happen, but I filed the nomination papers without violating any electoral norms," Jayalalithaa said.

The AIADMK chief also asked her party workers to refrain from doing anything that could affect her electoral chances.

"All our actions to achieve victory should be within the stipulated norms of the Election Commission," she said.
