Kunal Singh, a contractor by profession, was killed after being kidnapped near Heswe village when he refused to succumb to the demands of extremists, police said.
Two of Kunal's associates, who were also kidnapped along with him, were beaten up and freed by the extremists.
Police said a combing operation had been launched in the area to apprehend the killers.
