Confirming the seizure of explosives, Maharashtra Minister of Home Kripashankar Singh said that the exact nature of the material was yet to be ascertained. The "explosives" were found in an empty BEST bus and bomb disposal squad had rushed to the site to defuse it.

Two persons were killed and 38 people, including a child and three women, were wounded in the Ghatkopar blast triggering a red alert across Maharashtra.
