J-K polls: BJP announces second list

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday announced its second list of eight candidates for the first and second phases of Jammu and Kashmir assembly poll, even as talks for seat adjustment with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-backed Jammu State Morcha were on.

The party is fielding 12 candidates for the first phase and 13 for the second, and overall it is likely to contest 55 to 60 seats, leaving the rest to its allies, party spokesman Sunil Shastri said in New Delhi.

The issue of seat-sharing was discussed at meetings between BJP leaders, including general-secretary Rajnath Singh, RSS top brass led by joint general secretary in-charge of BJP affairs Madan Das Devi and JSM president Shri Kumar.

The six candidates for the first phase are Manzoor Ahmed Khan (Karnah), Zakir Hussain Sheikh (Langate), Gulam Mohiuden Mallah (Pattan), Yogesh (Rajouri), Ashok Sharma (Kalakot) and Dr Mohammed Sharif (Poonch).

The two candidates for the second phase are Lalit Moza (Amira Kadal) and Chander Prakash Ganga (Vijay Pur).
