The Uttaranchal police on Friday arrested R K Sharma, a senior Delhi police official, on charges of raping a 27-year-old woman.
"Yes, we have arrested R K Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police of the [Delhi] Armed Police, for raping his maidservant. He was arrested after the maidservant lodged a formal complaint this morning [Friday] at the Rajpur Road police station," the Director General of Uttaranchal police, Prem Dutt Raturi, told rediff.com
According to him, Sharma reached Dehradun on Thursday morning and went straight to his residence at Rajpur Road. In the evening, Sharma summoned the wife of his servant, who was away, and raped her.
"We have got the medical done. We have arrested the officer and he has been produced before the court. Since no other accused is involved therefore we are not seeking his police remand. The maidservant had several injuries on her person as she tried to resist Sharma's advances," Raturi said.
