RSS not bothered if Modi is removed: Vaidya

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Monday said it would not mind if Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was removed from his post.

The Sangh Parivar outfit's latest stand came after parleys between top leaders of the RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party at the residence of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi on Saturday and Sunday.

Asked if Modi should be given marching orders, RSS spokesman M G Vaidya said that the RSS was "not bothered" and it was for the BJP "to decide who should be its chief minister and who not".

He said that the RSS would not oppose the removal of Modi.

Vaidya said Vajpayee was told that "some hardliners in the country can engineer Godhra-like incidents in some other states also and spread unrest in the country, which will benefit the neighbour".

Without elaborating, he said the apprehension was based on "information with RSS".
