Muslim students urged to appear for exams

A Muslim organisation on Friday urged the minority community students of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board to appear for examinations in Ahmedabad, Baroda and other cities 'without any fear'.

The secretary of Students' Islamic Organisation of India, Gujarat unit, Fahimuddin Shaikh, said in a statement in Ahmedabad that the parents should encourage the children to appear for the examination, as the state government has made security arrangement for conducting the exams.

He said the students should not waste the year and added that the minority students should not be carried away by any discouraging statement to boycott the exams.

About 95.25 per cent students had appeared for the examinations that commenced in the state on Thursday even as large sections of the minority students had boycotted the exams.
