NDA allies crossing limits on Modi issue: RSS

Joining issue with Bharatiya Janata Party's allies on their demand for resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Thursday bluntly told them they had no right to seek Modi's ouster and that the parties were 'crossing limits'.

"It is the prerogative of the BJP as to who will be the chief minister of its party ruling a particular state. It is their internal matter," RSS spokesman M G Vaidya said.

NDA allies have no propriety to ask for Modi's ouster, though they may be guided by political considerations, he said.

"There is nothing new in political parties asking for Modi's resignation. Even Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's resignation has been sought many times," he said.

"If you are talking about crushing violence and demanding Modi's resignation, then chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar should also resign for continued violence," he said.

In Andhra Pradesh too, the People's War Group has allegedly killed many people all these years, he noted.

"Modi government has initiated steps to curb the violence and used force to contain the rioters that resulted in death of 98 persons in police firing. This makes it evident that Gujarat government did try to curb the violence," Vaidya said.

"Godhra carnage was a pre-planned attack and has got nothing to do with Ayodhya. Had it been linked with shila daan or Ram Temple issue, it could have happened anywhere near Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and not few thousand miles away in Gujarat," he claimed.
